Curry in a Hurry
July 28th 2008 13:20
Today had been a long day, we did a fair bit of moving around, as Hollie (our daughter) will soon be needing her own room. We will need to do some room shifting soon, dining room to the lounge area, office to the dining room, office becomes Hollie's bedroom.
I am really looking forward to getting some stuff for her room from IKEA, that is our favourite furniture/home decoration shop at the moment. We love it!
Anyway we were both pretty tired from all the running around, so we decided some takeaway was in order. We decided on our favourite Indian restaurat which is situated in Port Adelaide South Australia, it's called Spice N Ice, I believe the Spice part is the food obviously, and the Ice part is because it has a large bar selection, including imported beers and a massive wine collection.
We only normally get takeaway though, but one night they somehow lost our order so we were able to test out this extensive bar selection, they made up for losing the order by offering us a couple of free drinks while we waited. They didn't even take long to prepare the meal either. Good customer service and great tasting food.
This is what we normally order, if you can find the same from your local Indian Restaurant I highly recommend you give it a try.
Tandoori Broccoli
Broccoli florets in a spiced yoghurt marinade roasted in the Tandoor
Dal Makhni
Split lentils cooked in a thick cream sauce with an array of spices and finsihed with dried fenugreek leaves
Mix Vegetable Curry
This is a great tasting dish with lots of vegetables
To save some coin I normally, put some rice in the microwave for 15 minutes, by the time I have gone to get the meal and come back its just finishing. I also put some pappadums in the microwave too. Easy quick meal all for around $30. The beautiful thing for us is we don't always finish it the first night, so we always get 2 meals out of it.
Some good accompaniments would be any of the following:
Saffron Rice, Raita, any Naan Bread selection, Mixed Pickle and Mango Chutney
The meals are reasonably priced too.
